Trash Panda Delivers Bounce-Back-Win

Edina, MN - Trash Panda went to work early and often in the first period to pick up a 4-1 victory over Tradition Mortgage at Braemar Arena. Trash Panda muscled and skated to a sturdy 4-0 lead midway through the second half and held off a ferocious barrage by Tradition Mortgage.

After capturing a 4-0 first half lead, Trash Panda goalie Grace Kemp (CDH) turned Tradition 27 Tradition shots in the second half and 37 for the game, playing all 60 minutes in goal to level her teams record at 1-1 on the season.

Laini Gnetz (Woodbury) was loaned to the Trash Panda from Hepp’s Salt and made an instant impact, scoring just 5 seconds into the game with a great individual effort off the draw, took a turnover from Tradition Mortgage and had a direct line to the net and blasted it home for the 1-0 lead. Alex Christian (Orono), Audrey Davis (Edina), and Katie Ball (Centennial/Spring Lake Park) also scored for Trash Panda.   Ball and Christian also had an assist to notch the multi-point game. Taylor Gardner (Edina) had two assists in the win for her team.

Taylor Thompson (Forest Lake) made 12 saves for a perfect second half to keep Tradition (1-1) close.  Puck possession seemed to outweigh Tradition Mortgage by a 3-1 margin in the second half but Kemp was on point.  It wasn’t until 7 minutes remained that the shut out bid for Kemp was stopped by a goal scored by Tradition’s Ruby Lenk (Holy Family Catholic).
