The Dangle League is Back for Year Two – and Bigger Than Ever
Minneapolis, MN - By Taylor Koeppl
The Dangle League is gearing up for its second season, which is going to be bigger and better than ever before. The league has partnered with new sponsors, expanded the amount of teams, and added more player development opportunities. The second season of the Dangle League is for sure going to be one to remember.
MNHockey.Tv, the league’s official streaming partner, is back again for season two. Pete Waggoner, COO of MNHockey.Tv, shared his excitement about the league’s coming season. “We are in our second full season with The Dangle League,” Waggoner said. “We enjoyed every minute of our inaugural campaign and look forward to live stream coverage of the league this season.” His support with the livestreaming ensures that the players are getting enough exposure to those that cannot be at the rink, through streaming coverage.
One of the big updates to the league is adding a new sponsor: Trash Panda. The company, Trash Panda, is not only supporting the league, but will be the name behind the new team. The new team will expand the league from five teams, instead of four. Having an additional team this year will promote further opportunities for more girls to get on the ice, increase their exposure in front of college scouts, and most importantly – competing at a high level, while still having fun.
Waggoner also commented on how well and fast the league has grown in such a short period of time. “The growth of The Dangle League has been inspiring,” he said. “Seeing the joy players have competing in summer hockey while bringing a high level of competitive play each night is outstanding and a valued league in the family of MNHockey.Tv coverage.”
Improvements and additions are continuing to be seen already this summer, off of the ice too. The league has continued their partnership with Empowers Performance, and initiated a new combine for the players. Not only is Empowers backing a team still, but now arranged a combine. The combine at Empowers Performance, in Edina, includes key testing such as pull-ups, 10-yard sprints, vertical jumps, and a bike test. All of the results of the players will be compiled into a scouting report to be sent out to college coaches.
As the excitement of the players builds, returning players are already feeling the energy. Kayla Swartout, a returning goalie, who currently plays for Holy Family and is committed to the University of Wisconsin, said she’s looking forward to the level of competition to come. “I’m most excited for all the new players and the compete level,” Swartout said. “It’s going to be fun to see how everyone pushes each other this summer.”
The Dangle League is preparing for an even better second season, giving more girls opportunities, and leading them to pursue their dreams of college hockey.
