Season 2 Underway

Edina, MN - The Dangle League opened its second season at Braemar Thursday evening with high hopes of building on a productive and fun summer of hockey last season.  Three games were on the docket Thursday night with a fifth team making its debut in the league.

Trash Panda was welcomed to the league and is a testament to how well things progressed in the league last year and an even bigger statement of how many high end players are in Minnesota. “We were able to add a fifth team because the talent level was there throughout the state,” one of the league organizers Randy Koeppl said. “It is so good that it did not water-down the level of competition in the league,”

To accommodate all five teams on opening night, Performance Office Papers played twice. “We wanted to make sure all 5 teams were able to play on the first day,” Koepp said. “We know it's important to get the kids games right away and we had Performance Office Papers play twice tonight on the schedule.”  Koeppl went on to explain that each team will have one evening where they will play two games to be fair on the schedule.”

Each team practiced before the start of the game schedule this past week and are coached by Celly League players who play Division I college hockey.  Prior to that, there was a combine testing at Empowers Performance in Eden Prairie.  71 of the 100 players in the Dangle League were able to participate and their off-ice performance was impressive.

“The combine is a great way to see how hard these girls work off the ice,” Koeppl said.  Their strength and athleticism was impressive.” Koeppl said.”In fact, I coach and I was surprised with how good it really was.”

Results of the top five can be seen on the Dangle League Instagram page.  The Dangle League website will live-score all games.  All games can be seen live and on demand at MNHockey.Tv

A Dangle League All-Star team will be chosen by the Dangle League players to represent the league against a team of Celly Leaguers.  The Celly League is composed of players that are current or incoming Division I college players. Last season, the Danglers beat the Celly team 3-2 in a highly entertaining game.

The season will close out with the Dangle Cup playoffs with teams being seeded from the regular season standings.
