Schreifels Leads Trash Panda to 5–2 Victory over Empowers Performance

Braemar Arena, July 15, 2025 — In their first meeting of the season, Trash Panda  jumped out to an early lead and never looked back, topping Empowers Performance by a 5–2 margin in Dangle League action. Taylor Schreifels (Andover) had 2g-2a-4pts for an explosive not from the Panda blue line to help guide her team to the win. 

Entering the night two goals on the year—good for second in the league—forward Alex Christian (Andover) doubled her season total with a two‐goal night tying her with Audrey Davis (Edina) for the league lead in goals with 4. 

First Period Domination
Trash Panda dominated the opening frame, peppering the home side with 14 shots and striking four times. Christian opened the scoring midway through the period, depositing a cross‐crease feed at 11:16 to stake her team to a 1–0 lead. Moments later, Schreifels jumped into the rush to bury her first of the night, and Christian added her second tally before the period’s end. A final strike from sophomore forward Sydney Burnevik (Champlin Park/Coon Rapids)  just before the buzzer capped a 4–0 advantage after 20 minutes .

Second Period Response
Empowers Performance fought back in the second stanza, outshooting Trash Panda 11-10 and cutting the deficit in half.  Alli Ryan (Minnetonka) scored a goal at 4:45 of the second, and Angie Cody (Holy Family) followed with a rebound finish at 10:53 to bring the home crowd to life. But Trash Panda’s relentless attack paid off once more when Kathryn Zakrajsheck  scored just past the midway mark of the period, restoring a three‐goal cushion at 5–2 .
Goalie Splits
Trash Panda starter Grace Kemp (Cretin-Derham Hall) kept her team in front early, making 14 saves on 14 first‐period shots.  Finley Engfer (Apple Valley) entered to stymie the late charge, turning aside all 10 shots she faced over the final 30:00. For the home side, Vivienne Anderson (Orono) and Claire Hills (Andover) combined for 25 saves but couldn’t overcome the Panda offensive surge.

Trash Panda improves to 2-2-0 good for second place while Empowers Performance falls to 1-2 on the season which places them in a three-way tie for third to fifth place with Performance Office Papers and Tradition Mortgage.
