Schreifels Delivers in Overtime as Performance Office Papers Claims Dangle Cup

It all came down to this.

The third Dangle League Cup was on the line Thursday night at Braemar Arena as Performance Office Papers and Fortis met for the championship. Fortis had captured both regular season meetings, earning victories of 3-1 and 5-4, but Performance Office Papers turned the tables when it mattered most.

Taylor Schreifels scored with 2:23 remaining in three-on-three overtime to lift Performance Office Papers to a thrilling 3-2 victory and the 2026 Dangle League championship.

The championship environment was intense and the play focused from the opening faceoff. The teams battled through the first 20 minutes without a goal before Taylor Miller broke the deadlock with a sensational individual effort.

Miller gathered the puck and went coast to coast before ripping a shot upstairs on the short side to give Performance Office Papers a 1-0 lead.

Audrey Nichols doubled the advantage later in the half, with her team using the entire sheet of ice before finishing a setup from Julia Gerdes and Allie DeFauw. The goal sent Performance Office Papers into the halftime break holding a 2-0 lead.

Fortis owned a 13-9 advantage in first-half shots but was unable to solve the Performance Office Papers defense or find the back of the net.

Fortis had established a reputation throughout the season for playing the entire 60 minutes and gradually wearing down its opponents. That persistence showed again in the championship game.

With Fortis on the power play seven minutes into the second half, Ella Olson worked to keep the puck alive along the end boards. Sasha Cole collected it and found Penny Gorman at the top of the right circle. Gorman delivered a perfectly placed blast through a screen to cut the Performance Office Papers lead to 2-1.

The pressure continued as Fortis searched for the tying goal.

With 4:35 remaining in regulation, Angie Cody started a ferocious forecheck behind the net before Mayme Scott won another battle along the side boards. The puck found Bonnie Zhao, who wired a long-range shot into the net to tie the game at 2-2.

It was Zhao’s fourth goal and 12th point of the season, continuing a stellar campaign for one of the Dangle League’s leading scorers.

Regulation could not determine a champion, sending the Dangle Cup final into three-on-three overtime.

DeFauw and Cody went to work along the side boards and combined to win possession before advancing the puck toward the net. Schreifels moved in from her position at the blue line, pounced on the loose puck and fired it through a crowded crease with 2:23 showing on the clock.

The puck found the back of the net, setting off a championship celebration as Performance Office Papers completed its season with a dramatic 3-2 overtime victory and possession of the Dangle Cup.

Fortis finished with a 27-22 advantage in shots and erased a two-goal deficit in the second half, but Performance Office Papers authored the final moment of the season and emerged as the 2026 Dangle League champion.

The Dangle League will return to Braemar Arena for its All-Star Game on Tuesday, August 18, with the opening faceoff scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
