Parity Holds Serve in Dangle League
Edina, MN - The Dangle League leading Hepp’s Salt Co. faced off with Empowers Performance for the second time this year in the first of two league games on Tuesday night with Empowers handing Hepp’s their first loss in four games. Performance Office Papers outlasted Tradition Mortgage in a 6-5 shootout win. Six of eight Dangle league games have been decided by 2 goals or less this season with half the games begin one goal games.
Empowers Performance 3 - Hepp’s Salt Co. 1
Entering play on Tuesday Empowers Performance sat in third place in the Dangle League and were looking to make a move in the standings. They did just that with a 3-1 win over league leading Hepp’s Salt Co.
Josie Skoogman (Hill-Murray), Ella Sharkey (Holy Family Catholic), and Regan Berglund (Hill-Murray) scored first half goals and took a 3-1 lead at the break. Goalie Zoe Rimstad (Academy of Holy Angels) churned out a j save performance in net to earn the win, her second of the season.
Their first meeting resulted in a regulation tie and shootout win for Hepp’s Salt Co. and their back-and-forth play coupled with outstanding goaltending on both ends made for yet another entertaining contest. Ida Huber (Dodge County) opened the game in the first-half for Hepp’s and her tag-team partner Layla Hemp (Minnetonka) was perfect with 11 saves in the second half holding pace with her perfect play and league leading 0.00 goals against average and 1.000 save percentage in 3 games played.
Cate McCoy (Edina) scored the lone goal for Hepp’s Salt Co. and the loss dropped their record to 3-1 on the season.
Performance Office Papers 6 - Tradition Mortgage 5 (so)
Tradition Mortgage clawed a point out of their game with Performance Office Papers yet fell by a score of 6-5 in a shootout for the second time in as many meetings between these two teams. Performance held a pair of two goal leads at 2-0 and 4-2 only to see them erased by Tradition.
River Lakes Sophia Hess scored twice for Performance and Talla Hanson (BSM) had a goal and an assist to lead Performance in the production category. 11 different players picked up a point for Performance in their balanced attack. Kayla Swartout (Holy Family) made 35 saves and held for Tradition in the shootout to help her team earn the win.
Tradition had 3 point efforts by a pair of Centennial Spring Lake Park players as Teegan Kulencamp and Grace Laager each had 1g-2a. Kulencamp has points in three out of four games played so far this year. Lorelai Nelson (Edina) 1g-1a and Chloe King (Northern Tier) 2a also produced multi-point games.
Each team will be in action on Thursday evening and they will be part of a great night from Braemar Arena that will feature two Dangle League games and The Celly Cup final. All the action begins at 5:10pm from Braemar West Arena in Edina.
