Dangle League All-Stars Edge Celly League’s Remax in Shootout Thriller
Braemar Arena – August 14, 2025
Following the Dangle League Championship, the season wrapped with one of its most anticipated traditions — the All-Star showdown between the Dangle League’s top performers and a battle-tested Celly League roster. This year’s edition lived up to the hype, with the MNHockeyTV Dangle All-Stars grinding out a dramatic 2–1 shootout victory over the Remax Advantage Plus Celly All-Stars.
The matchup showcased two very different but equally talented rosters. The Dangle League squad — wearing the MNHockeyTV sweaters — featured Minnesota’s premier high school girls’ hockey players, many of whom are on track for Division I careers. Across the ice, the Remax Advantage Plus lineup boasted seasoned NCAA Division I talent, eager to defend the Celly League’s reputation.
From the drop of the puck, both teams showed they weren’t treating this as a mere exhibition. The Dangle All-Stars struck first at 19:00 of the first half when Katie Zakrajsheck (Benilde-St. Margaret’s) took a breakout pass from Libby Moe (Edina) and blasted a shot past Celly League goaltender Sedona Blair (New Hampshire) for a 1–0 lead. Zakrajsheck nearly doubled the advantage minutes later on a clean breakaway, but Blair shut the door with a pad save.
Between the pipes, Kayla Swartout (Holy Family) was flawless in her 30 minutes of work for MNHockeyTV, turning aside all 13 shots she faced to preserve the one-goal advantage into halftime.
The Celly League found their equalizer 8:02 into the second half. Abby Garvin (Holy Cross) cut in from the left wing boards, used the entire width of the crease, and banked a shot past Janie McGawn (Blake) to knot the game at 1–1. Remax began generating sustained pressure, creating multiple odd-man rushes. McGawn, however, was outstanding in relief, denying back-to-back breakaways from Suzy Higuchi (Yale) and later flashing the stick shaft to rob Isa Goettl in the dying moments.
With neither side able to break through in regulation, the game moved directly to a three-round shootout.
Shootout Summary:
MNHockeyTV – Riley Iverson: Quick hands, slipped it five-hole on Blair for the opening goal. (1–0)
Remax – Emma Hoen: Forehand move, stopped by McGawn. (1–0)
MNHockeyTV – Libby Moe: Tried the five-hole, denied. (1–0)
Remax – Suzy Higuchi: Out of room on the deke, no goal. (1–0)
MNHockeyTV – Chloe King: Smooth move to the backhand, couldn’t finish. (1–0)
Remax – Isa Goettl: Stopped by McGawn’s stick shaft in highlight-reel fashion. (Final: 1–0 SO)
The Dangle League All-Stars claimed the 2–1 victory, capping a night that celebrated the high level of skill, compete, and camaraderie between two of Minnesota’s elite women’s hockey circuits.
